What is urban habitat, and does it really make a difference? We will explore examples of native plants in metropolitan areas and their positive impact on both our communities and local ecosystems, including birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
Saturday, March 8th. 1pm-2pm. Bellevue Public Library. Presentation: Famous Gardens & the Native Plants that Grace Them. 1003 Lincoln Rd, Bellevue, NE 68005-3107.
This presentation will briefly touch on the importance of urban habitat. Then we will examine several nationally renowned pollinator gardens, focusing on the native flora included in their designs. These examples will generate plenty of ideas for our own home and community gardens!
Thursday, March 12th. 7pm (Social 6pm) Audubon Society of Omaha. Presentation: Hidden Pollinators: Nebraska’s Tiny Bees and Their Relationships with Native Plants. DJ’s Dugout 777 N 114th St, Omaha, NE 68154
Did you know that Nebraska has 400-500 native bee species and most are as small as a grain of rice? These tiny bees are pollinator powerhouses. We will explore the diversity of Nebraska’s tiny bees, what makes them exceptional pollinators, and why native flowes are essential for their survival.
